Perkins Precision Developments (PPD) manufactures thin film plate polarizers, polarizing beam splitter cubes, and crystal quartz waveplates for both R&D and OEM applications. Plate polarizers are available at Brewster’s angle as well as at 45 degrees for high performance with easy alignment. The predictability and repeatability of IBS thin film coatings allow us to guarantee high transmission at a specific angle of incidence, eliminating the need to angle tune the optical component in order to achieve optimal performance. And because we utilize Ion Beam Sputtered (IBS) coating technology, all of our beam splitter cubes and dielectric plate polarizers are environmentally stable, with no spectral shifting caused by either time, moisture or temperature.

As with all of our custom laser optics and optical assemblies, PPD’s waveplates and polarizing beam splitters are epoxy-free, resulting in low absorption, high extinction (Tp/Ts) and high damage thresholds, making them ideal for use with high energy Nd:YAG and fibers lasers, aerospace applications and other high-power pulsed and CW laser systems throughout the visible and near-infrared.

Crystal quartz multiple-order, low-order, and compound zero-order waveplates can be designed to provide quarter-wave, half-wave, or intermediate retardations. They are available with our in-house low-loss AR coatings and are suitable for high-power applications with energy densities exceeding 10 J/cm².

All PPD products are fully manufactured and coated in our Longmont, Colorado facility.
